The Camry isn’t very fun to drive, but it handles nicely around bends, with low body roll, while the steering is numb and delivers little feedback. Grip and composure are excellent, and we were surprised by the brakes’ ability to withstand repeated misuse. However, the Camry is beginning to show its age, lacking the refinement and culture of the Accord and emitting a significant amount of road noise at highway speeds. The SE and XSE models, with their sport-tuned suspension, handle more quickly and agilely than you might expect, although the ride is a little firm, and the occasional shock penetrates the cabin. The same goes with the TRD, but it matches the car’s personality and does not humiliate itself, adding strong performance to the strengthened chassis and increased body bracing for more precise suspension location and sharper handling.

Because of the low roofline and low-to-the-ground attitude, it feels like you’re stepping down to enter, yet once inside, there’s plenty of room. Visibility is excellent, although parking assistance is limited to a backup camera on lower trim levels. Only the top trim levels have access to a surround-view monitor and front and rear parking sensors with automated braking.
Space:
The Camry remains the roomy mid-size sedan we’ve come to love, but the 2017 Accord has the greatest second-row legroom of the bunch, with the Altima now trailing both on this score, despite all of these having roughly the same wheelbase of around 111 inches. Honda has simply done more with the Accord’s packaging, delivering greater space than the class average. However, the Camry still has more rear headroom than most competitors, so there is still ample room for four adults and an occasional tight fifth in the middle rear seat.
Cargo:
Trunk capacity is no longer class-leading, and the Camry’s 15.1 cu-ft is slightly less than all of its regular competitors’, with the Accord still leading the way at 16.7 cu-ft. At the very least, all hybrid hardware is perfectly integrated, and the hybrids have the same trunk room as the gas-powered Camrys. Folding down the 60/40-split rear seat allows for greater cargo capacity, but keep in mind that the TRD’s structural bracing means the back seat is immovable and does not fold.
Cabin storage is adequate, with a large glovebox, a modest cubby on the left side of the dashboard, and a reasonable-sized covered center console storage bin. The front cupholders are next to the shifter lever, and there’s a spot ahead of them for storing your phone, which becomes a wireless charger on higher trims. There is a sliding compartment beneath this place. The rear cupholders are located in the middle fold-down armrest, and the second row also features front seatback pockets. Unfortunately, the four door pockets aren’t particularly large, although they do include bottle holders. All grades include an overhead console with a sunglasses storage. Under the XSE/XLE level, rear-seat passengers have a small storage cubby in the center console instead of rear-seat air vents.
